Counseling Program Information

Home

A comprehensive developmental guidance and counseling program provides meaningful growth experiences, support and assistance for all members of the Issaquah Valley community.    Guidance services offer support in developing age-appropriate skills in Kindergarten through Fifth grade.  This stems from the belief that children growing up in today's world are faced with many common concerns.  With support, children can develop skills to succeed in all aspects of their lives.

Guidance Lessons

Classroom guidance lessons provide students in grades K-5 opportunities for social and emotional growth.  Through a developmental approach students are exposed to age-appropriate skills and knowledge that build upon learning from previous years.

Counseling Groups

Small groups are offered for students who need additional support with a specific issue. A group provides a safe environment where students are able to share concerns and learn from others who have had common experiences. Group topics can include but are not limited to divorce, friendship, cooperative play skills, and grief and loss.  While in group students participate in a variety of activities for the purpose of assisting students in developing healthy coping skills.

Responsive Services

When students and families are in crisis I offer immediate attention and support.  This support can include consultation with parents and teachers, short term counseling for students, and referrals to families for community resources such as counseling.
